Welcome

Dear Alumni thank you for visiting our website.

After the first meeting held in Perugia in 2006 on the occasion of the celebrations for the Eightieth year of the University for Foreigners of Perugia we started thinking about a range of activities we wanted to develop to get the Association up and running.

We wanted to reconstruct an initial “database” for at least the last 30 years and this we think we’ve achieved. But if you know someone who’s not on the database, either through an oversight on our part or simply because he/she’s outside the 30 year catchment base, please let him/her know we exist and please send us his/her address!

We also wanted to create a website, which would be constantly updated by us with your help and which would keep us in touch and enable us to embark on multiple activities together. We also felt that it would be a good idea to set up a series of commercial agreements with local purveyors to give the Alumni a slight edge when coming to Perugia, Umbria or indeed to Italy.

We have been hampered by a lack of funds and consequently these first two tasks have taken us nearly four years thanks largely to operational help from Rector Giannini and stirling volunteer work from the founding members.

We would like to create a yearly rendez vous with you in Perugia each 15 – 16 August; it is a holiday in Italy and many of us have spent it in Perugia as part of our Summer Courses. Also it would give us a chance to have a well attended Annual General Meeting and give you an opportunity to give us your ideas on how we should proceed. A meeting to see each other, see how we are progressing with our plans for Unistrapg and also to capture some of that wonderful feeling we’d left behind when we had to return home. Does the idea appeal to you? Please do let us know, we really do need your views.

We would also like to establish a Regional Meeting for Alumni from different global locations and move from one Continent to another each year, always providing that you approve of the idea and want to join us around the globe.

We would like to add chat rooms to our website, create an online gallery with the photos we hope you’ll send us; and collect your articles, memoirs and news flashes and publish them quarterly on the Alumni website.

To arrange an annual review about "Unistrapg", about Umbria, Italy and obviously about us. As soon as we'll be ready we'll deal with social/cultural/economic missions in the most interesting countries for "Unistrapg" and for you. Also to look over the academic development program of "Unistrapg" and to support it will be our mission. Please bear in mind that this Alumni Association does not in any way invalidate our many National Associations, it simply puts us all into one big network from which we should be able to help each other and to enable us in turn, to help our beloved UniversitĂ  per Stranieri di Perugia.

To achieve all this we need your help, your support, your ideas and last but not least your own network of Perugia University students.

Welcome dear Alumni, one and all, welcome to your very own worldwide Association!
